Job Summary

Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of skilled construction professionals? We’re looking for a Senior Tutor with industry expertise in groundworks to join our growing team at NHBC. In this rewarding role, you’ll mentor, coach and inspire apprentices to develop practical skills that will serve them – and the housing industry – for life.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on training that prepares apprentices for success – on time and within budget.

  • Lead the coordination and delivery of apprenticeship training programmes to hit key performance targets.

  • Engage directly with customers, awarding bodies and industry stakeholders to ensure training meets the highest standards.

  • Maintain NHBC’s accreditations (e.g., Ofsted, ESFA), championing quality assurance every step of the way.

  • Support performance reporting by gathering key data and learner feedback.

  • Proactively track apprentice progress, making sure we meet all compliance and quality benchmarks.

  • Adapt your teaching to meet individual learning needs – creating a positive, inclusive training environment.

 What we’re looking for

  • A strong background in delivering apprenticeships that lead to real success stories.

  • Hands-on experience in construction, ideally within the new-build housing or groundworks sector.

  • Exposure to timber frame construction would be a bonus.

  • Someone who’s improved trade practice through coaching and intervention.

  • The ability to interpret NHBC standards and bring them to life for learners.

  • Confident communicator and motivator – able to coach and influence learners and colleagues alike.

  • A natural organiser who helps others meet deadlines and expectations.

 Education and Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Minimum Level 2 Site Groundworks qualification

  • Teaching qualification (or currently working towards one)

  • English & Maths qualifications at minimum apprenticeship level

  • Working towards professional membership of a relevant institution (we’ll support you to get there!)

What we offer

Our benefits package includes:

  • 27 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • holiday purchase scheme
  • enhanced pension scheme (up to 10.5%)
  • life assurance
  • subsidised private medical insurance
  • employee discounts platform
  • two days volunteer leave
  • enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption leave and pay for all new parents

+ many more!
