Salary: £58,000 – £60,600 + 10% performance bonus

Working location: Nationwide, London based office, Hybrid

Responsibilities

Job summary:

 

As a Major Projects Surveyor, you'll lead high-profile construction projects shaping London’s skyline. Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, you'll ensure project success with your expertise. This role requires Class 3 (3H) Registered Building Inspector status. However, we welcome candidates progressing through the RBI process and offer support to help you qualify.

 

Note: This is a Nationwide opportunity working remotely with flexible working, which requires frequent travel to our London office.

 

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible to lead the building surveying assessment of complex, high risk and high-value new build and conversion projects. Manage the input of other building surveying specialists.

Engage, influence and negotiate with developers and their design teams at the proposal stage to provide expert knowledge, and professional and technical advice on NHBC Standards, Building Regulations and codes and standards in order to guide them towards compliant solutions that present an acceptable technical risk to NHBC.

 

  • Carry out site inspection of building work as part of the risk management strategy for high-risk projects and provide planned and responsive support to inspectors and engineers in the project team.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to others in Operations within an area of specialism.
  • Undertaking quality monitoring and peer reviews of staff as part of the quality management process, including team training, career development, coaching, and mentoring as required.
  • Guide builders, their consultants, and NHBC on Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and building technology as appropriate.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints & manage conflict and disagreement by effective and appropriate escalation.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal and presentational skills with a positive outlook and attitude.
  • IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programs.
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Experience in plan appraisal of residential developments and associated non-residential uses. preparing fee proposals and managing budgets/finances.
  • Able to build rapport, establish credibility and build effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry with relevant experience in Building Control.
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate professional body/institution, e.g. CABE, FCABE, MCIOB, RICS etc.
  • Desirable to have a construction-related degree, e.g. Building Surveying BSc/MSc etc.
  • Must be of Class 3 (3H) Status, Registered Building Inspector (if you are working towards, please provide detail in your application i.e. portfolio, awaiting interview).
